The main issue I had was finding a layout that would work for my room; it was tricky, as I wanted to change a very formal living room to a very casual one.
I was thrilled with what Christine came up with. We use the room a lot now, it’s so great!! That was the goal and its been achieved. Before the makeover no one ever entered the room – well only me to dust and clean it each week – how very sad!

Christine just made the whole process stress free and so much easier to tackle. This room had me stumped for so long! I felt so reassured knowing someone with the knowledge, creative vision and experience could help us out!
Christine was very professional and super lovely, so easy to work with and I loved everything she suggested. She gave us lots of ideas and options without making me confused or my mind cluttered. She also understood what we needed as a family and she got ‘my style,’ which was important to me as well.

Christine had some great ideas that I would never have thought of! She was patient in understanding our needs first, which made the whole process so much easier!

It was so wonderful working with Christine and I felt such relief as this room was a tricky one to change around.

We love our new hang out room – we use it a lot and will enjoy and use it often for many years to come!

I know just enough about design to be dangerous. I also read a lot of interior design magazines and books, which is not always a good thing. I find that I like a lot of different styles, so it makes it especially hard to pull it all together in a cohesive look.

Christine helped me stay focused. She found products and gave me new ideas about how to arrange furniture and accessories. Above all, she kept me on task so that I actually finished a room before jumping to a project in another part of my house. I also liked that she was willing to incorporate furniture and accessories I had already, freshening them with products she found. That itself saved me a lot of money.

Working with Christine was so easy. She is prompt about answering emails and questions. She was constantly updating my Pinterest board with new ideas for me to consider. She didn't mind if I didn't like something she suggested. She was very willing to work with my budget and enhancing my personal tastes instead of shoving her own design aesthetic on me.

Working with Christine is also really affordable—she'll save you a lot of legwork because finding the right items is half the trouble. She is friendly and personable. She has great style. She brought her New York sensibility and up-to-date style to my living room in Florida.

We were working with an unusual layout with odd proportions, and needed some help to optimize the space and avoid costly “mistakes”. We spend a lot of time in our living room, and will find it both more functional and more aesthetically pleasing after this redesign.

Working with Christine helped us to understand the best layout for our room, and why certain things worked or didn’t work. Even where we may choose to substitute a different piece than you chose, your design is a great “template” to guide our choices. It also helped build our confidence to see that many of our ideas were “on the right track”, and just needed some refining to work.

I really like that Christine was willing to work in an open, nontraditional way with her clients and cater to a range of needs and budgets. I think there are a lot of people who appreciate good design and beautiful spaces, and would like some professional guidance, but want to remain in control of and be actively involved in the process.

Before I found Christine, I met with a “traditional” interior design firm, and was really turned off by the interaction . . . for a “service” business, I was pretty surprised by the inflexible, “our way or the highway” attitude, and the clear message that working with “retail” sources was thought of as beneath them. In today’s economy, this seems really out of touch . . . I am much more impressed by someone with the vision and creativity to make affordable, accessible things look fabulous and unique, and believe that having good taste is not limited to those with both the means and the desire to buy only handcrafted originals and to-the-trade items.
If I had a million dollar budget for this project, I would not have given them a penny. Getting off my soapbox now.

I really appreciate that Christine is approachable, low-key, and gentle, yet honest in giving feedback . . . I felt very comfortable exchanging ideas with you.
The process was easy, fun, and informative – I would (and likely will) do it again! I will absolutely recommend your services to my friends and family!

I contacted Christine after stumbling across her blog and Pinterest page, and I'm so glad I found her! My husband and I were planning a move to a significantly larger apartment in Gramercy Park. We wanted some ideas on how to furnish the space and configure the living room. Despite having beautiful features, our apartment layout is tricky, and we were afraid of making costly mistakes when it came to buying furniture. We needed help coming up with a floor plan that looked great and suited our lifestyle. Christine not only devised an ingenious floor plan, she provided me with ideas and options for decorating every area of the apartment.

Working with Christine was truly a fun experience! Christine has amazing personal style, but she does not push her own style preferences on you. Rather, she works hard to identify the precise look and feel you are aiming for. Sometimes I found it difficult to articulate what I was looking for, but Christine looked at photographs of rooms I liked and distilled the key themes and features that reflected my taste. Christine also worked within our budget—she suggested clever alternatives to higher end pieces, and passed along the savings she enjoys as a designer. Instead of suggesting pieces all from one store, Christine introduced me to a wide variety of NYC tradespeople and shops I'd never heard of, from Brooklyn antique furniture to handmade wallpaper. And when it came to making decisions, Christine always gave me several options, so I never felt pushed in one particular direction. She went above and beyond the role of a decorator by helping me interview contractors and reviewing their proposals. On top of all that, Christine is an absolute pleasure to spend time with—she is friendly, sweet, insightful and a great listener.

I would absolutely recommend Christine Tse for any design project, large or small. I have no doubt that Christine will continue to impress her clients through her hard work, excellent value, and great personality.

Christine helped me decorate the main living area for a furnished summer rental. We had just moved into a new home, and found renters for our old place much sooner than we had anticipated. Summer had already begun, and they wanted to get in there as soon as possible. I was short on time and budget, and really needed help taking the apartment from its original metropolitan feel, to something more beach inspired. We needed to be able to coordinate new items with existing furniture, and didn’t have the luxury of repainting. In spite of all these conditions, Christine was able to successfully meet our needs with several simple, well thought out suggestions and resources. She did a great job explaining her rationale and goals for each element, and how each step would contribute to the feel and functionality of the space. We were sad to leave the old apartment, after seeing it looking so fabulous! Our renters and realtor continue to comment on how fantastic the apartment looks...

I was moving my office from a shared space to an office-only space when I had my session with Christine. She is a great listener. Christine asked pointed questions and clarified my needs. She also outlined the steps I should take to get started and provided useful resources as follow-up via email. Christine understands how important it is to make a space feel like your own - and she's the person to help you do just that!

The 30 minute phone consultation was awesome - I immediately felt understood and my furnishing problems were addressed in a super professional and creative manner. At the same time it was like I was talking to a friend - relaxed and so much fun! It was so inspiring - and now I feel confident enough to make my furniture decisions, where before I was hesitant and second-guessing myself. Thank you so so much Christine!!!

Christine is always evolving as a designer by constantly researching new products and styles. Without a doubt, anyone will attest that Christine has all the traits of a good Interior Designer: she is empathetic, a good listener, has a great sense of style, is not afraid of color and is hardworking and detailed oriented. Anyone who is thinking about choosing Christine to design their home, will after one meeting, realize that she is the type of person to cater to your needs, rather than designing for herself, but will inspire you with her creation and add some real sense of style to your interior!
