2018 AUTUMN/FALL ONE ROOM CHALLENGE – WEEK 1

So I’ve decided to join the One Room Challenge Autumn/Fall 2018 edition..

This will give me a serious kick in the behind to finish up my guest bedroom/office!

Here’s a little back story.

Yuri and I moved into our 2 bedroom new build flat last summer.  It’s been a really slooooow process to turn our characterless flat into our own beautiful and inspiring oasis.

But it’s slowly getting there.

For the ORC (one room challenge) I’ve decided that I wanted to finish up my guest bedroom/office because this room has been neglected for sooooo long!

I had only the bare minimum in it, a bed, side table, a desk (finally) and some paintings on the wall that we brought over from New York City when we did our transatlantic move to London two years ago.

The plan is to turn the guest bedroom into an oasis of calm and creativity for guest and to double as my office!

Our budget for the design is about £1000.00

And this will be spent on wallpaper, roman shade, a desk chair, paintings/artwork, bed linens, cushions, a rug, and other little details that will make the bedroom feel warm and cozy.

Yuri and I have decided to keep the bed since it’s a really comfortable bed.

I’m still debating whether to have a headboard or not.

That’s the plan for now…so remember to follow my journey for the next 6 weeks, as the big reveal will be on November 8.

Here’s some inspiration for the guest bedroom/office:

I really like the combination of yellow and green…it reminds me of my hometown of Aruba.  It feels warm and cozy.   When I step into my guest bedroom/office I want it to uplift me and give me a shot of sunshine especially when it’s grey outside.

This portrait here is actually my main inspiration!  I’m not sure what attracts me to it, maybe it’s the colour, the composition, the clean background or maybe it’s just her sitting there contemplating about something…This image just gives me a sense of serenity..

Let me know what you think!
